Atlas is for planning trips with friends. Your trips are private until you choose otherwise. This page says what that means in practice.
Private by default
Every new trip starts private: only you, and people you add to the trip, can open it. You choose who else sees it from the Share button:
- Friends: people you have accepted as friends.
- Link: anyone with the link. Turning the link off stops it working at once, and turning it on again makes a new one.
- Public: anyone, and it shows on your profile and in Discover.
What is never shared
When anyone other than you sees a trip, Atlas builds a separate guest version from a fixed list of what may be shown. These are never in it:
- Confirmation codes
- Loyalty and account numbers
- Street addresses of where you stay
- Private notes
- Times and booking status of your stops
- Your email address
People you add as editors can see booking details only if you turn on Show bookings for that trip. Viewers never can.
Copies of your trips
When someone uses your shared trip, they get a copy of the guest version: days, stops, public notes and map spots. Nothing from the list above is copied. You get a notification, and their copy credits your trip.
Scores and lists
Scores you give places are visible to your friends on place pages. Your Want to go list is visible to your friends. Other lists are visible to whoever you chose when you made them.
Your account
We store your email, your profile (username, name, home city, bio, photo) and what you add to Atlas. We don't sell your data or show ads, and we don't use ad trackers. You can delete your account in Settings at any time. That deletes your profile, your trips, your lists, your scores and your photo.
